BRITANNIAN PROFESSIONS

One of the wonderful things about the world of Ultima Online is that you can learn and grow in any direction you wish. The skills chosen to begin your life in Britannia may not be the skills you choose to focus on later in life - it's entirely up to you!

Skill Advancement
In addition to simply using your newly learned skills, there are several ways you can raise your abilities in a skill.

You may choose to visit a merchant or any NPC. All of the NPCs in Britannia know at least a few skills, and they'll be happy to teach them to you - for a price. Approach an NPC and ask them to "train skills" and they will happily recite a list of skills they are familiar with.

To learn a skill simply tell the NPC to "train " where is the name of the skill you wish to learn. The NPC will tell you the fee for their teaching, and if you wish to pay it, you may pull gold from your backpack and drag it atop the NPC to begin learning. Keep in mind, the NPC will tell you the price to learn as much as they can teach. If the price is too high, you may give them a portion of the requested gold and they will teach you accordingly.

For example:

To train in tailoring -

- Find an NPC who teaches tailoring. (A tailor shop is a good place to look.)
- Double-click the NPC to learn their name.
- Stand close to the NPC
- Say " train". The NPC will list off all skills they are capable of training.
- If the tailoring skill is listed, say " train tailoring". If the NPC does not list tailoring as a skill, find another and begin again.
- The NPC will tell you a price to train in tailoring.
- Drop the price, or as much gold as you wish, atop the NPC and they will train you in the skill.

You may also learn additional skill ranks by observing other players as they use their skills. Be warned though, you won't get far without practice! Observing others will teach you only a minimal amount of a skill.
