Twisted and mysterious creatures have been unleashed upon the land with the unveiling of Mondain’s Legacy. These are but a few of the monsters that will do their best to destroy you as you journey into Heartwood.

Chief Paroxysmus

A gigantic king, ruling from the underworld has returned to the surface bringing the four D's with it - Death, disease, disruption and disillusionment. His breath kills all flora and fauna in his wake. His skin leaks poison, his heart is pure ice. Everything in his path dies.

Lady Melisande

Lady Melisande was once a dryad devoted to a powerful tree in Yew. The swamps destroyed her tree and her lands, cursing her in the process. Her touch upon the land now taints and corrupts.

While Lady Melisande may have lost all her beauty, she is nonetheless extremely formidable. Her power, once used for the good of nature, is now entrenched in the evil that causes her immortal pain. Her spindly fingers clutch at the souls of humans and Elves venturing in her path.

Monstrous Interred Grizzle

The unfortunate result of a death ritual gone awry, a Monstrous Interred Grizzle is the remains (and quite literally the remnants) of man, beast or monster partially returned to life after some time has been spent buried beneath the land.

Monstrous Interred Grizzles are a giant melting pot of nasty body bits. Sloughing skin, trailing wet organs and missing (or misshapen) bones are common sights of these creatures. They leave a path of blood and other viscous fluids in their wake. This creature is a walking, oozing sore.

Tormented Minotaur

Part woman, part beast. This creature can stand to over 10 feet tall. Normally you'll find this beast lumbering on 2 hoofed feet, grasping its prey in strong -- but often humanoid -- fingers and hands. Its enormous bull-like head is framed by 2 large horns and a strong nose. The female version is only slightly more slender than the male-counterpart.

Hydra

This five headed, dragon-like creature inhabits the swamp and marsh areas of Britannia. It is roughly 20 feet long and weighs about two tons. A hydra's scaled body is dark brown in color; its underbelly is lighter underneath. It has gleaming yellow eyes and dagger-sized teeth. Each head breathes a different damage type at 5 separate targets.

Dryad

Dryads are wild, humanoid female entities of unearthly beauty, found in deep secluded forests. They defend these forests from anything that threatens them. Dryads possess delicate elven features; however, their skin is like bark, and their hair is like leaves. They have been known to charm Britannians into helping them defend their forests.

Troglodyte

Troglodytes are a prehistoric race of humanoids that live in caves, dens, or holes. They are very warlike and when not armed with their spears, they often engage others in battle with their claws and teeth. Troglodytes possess thick heavy brows, a hunched posture, and hairy brute like arms.

Satyr

A satyr is a lusty woodland humanoid creature. They have muscular human male arms, torso and facial features combined with goat legs, horns, and pointed elven ears. A satyr's hair is chestnut brown, and its hooves and horns are dark as the night. They favor musical instruments, unrestrained revelry, fine food, bottles of wine and romance.
